Peter and his father Tomas are poor
woodcutters, forced to
travel from village to village to find
work, but they are inevitably
drawn into the world of
myths and gypsy tales.
Radu, a man from the nearby
settlement is found
murdered in the woods. Soon after his
burial, a local man is
murdered, and Peters’
secret lover, Agnes, is chosen for the
Nunta Mortului - the
wedding of the dead. The
Shadow Queen has returned,
dragging with her murder, deceit and
Tomas’ secret past. But in the face of
adversity, Peter
discovers new love and his true
career: the
massacre of the
living dead for the good of
mankind.
My Swordhand is Singing is a wonderful story of
legend that Sedgwick has brought to
life. You can really feel the
tension and panic
portrayed by the characters, through the
bloody climax, to an
unexpected twist at the end.
I think that
My Swordhand is Singing is a really
well written, emotional book that takes you on a
journey with the main
character, through his
highs and
lows until the very
end.
In short, this is a
fantastic book: one of his best so far. I
highly recommend it for those with a
love of the
supernatural and vampires.
My Swordhand is Singing rates an overall
ten out of ten.
Aoife adds her comments:
I would recommend
My Swordhand is Singing to boys and girls, who enjoy reading and are
above the age of
13. I like this book because it’s
set in a time when the
world was a very
uncertain place and also because of how
different it was back then, compared to
now."
