The Lalandia complex offers a huge range of indoor activities from miniature golf to bowling, as well as an incredible tropical waterpark, Aquadome and Monky Tonky Land, a vast soft play area.
The complex has 40,000m² of undercover activities, insulating one from any worries about the weather and includes shops, restaurants, a high jump trampoline and amphitheatre-style stage which hosted family karaoke and a children’s disco. The interior has been designed with a Mediterranean theme with the ceiling artificially lit to look like a bright blue summer sky.
On the first day Toby and I spent over three hours in the Aquadome enjoying its many aquatic delights and Monky Tonky Land. It was only when we walked home at 8pm that we realised that there had been a colossal rain shower - thanks to the huge puddles that had suddenly appeared.
The Aquadome was an enormous hit with both Toby and Pippa. It offers a fabulous range of different pools from giant curling water slides that one rode down in rubber dinghys, leaving me screaming and Toby giggling, to a giant pool with wave machine, and a gorgeous lazy river where we could float gently down a stream in a giant rubber ring before going back for the thrill of yet another water slide. After each of our two full days at Legoland Toby would rush us back to Lalandia to spend time at the Aquadome and Monky Tonky Land before Jon and I dragged him away at 8pm to go to bed!
Although Pippa is only 14 months there was more than enough to keep her entertained in the Aquadome. The perfectly designed child-friendly pool kept her very happy with its warm, shallow water, tiny slides, toys and dams. The Aquadome reminded me of the very best water theme parks Florida has to offer yet everything at Lalandia was inside and there were no concerns about the children either burning from too much sun or getting too cold.
Toby is a soft play aficionado. However, Monky Tonky Land won his vote. After eight hours at Legoland and two hours swimming I would have thought he’d be ready for bed but the lure of Monky Tonky Land was too great. We went every day where he burned off yet more energy in the three-storey jungle play area, leaping around the numerous obstacle courses, slides, football and basketball areas. All the while, Pippa could safely entertain herself in either the Lego play area or the "junior" soft play area designed specifically for the very youngest visitors.
Contemporary holiday homes with all the comfort Lalandia offers are still relatively unusual in the UK. Legoland Billund in Denmark is a very special resort which makes it easy to relax and enjoy precious family time.
