Camber Sands Holiday Park provided
children's activities in the morning, and due to the bad weather
the
beach wasn't an option so we gave them a go. From 9.30 to 10am were
activities for the
under 5s. The young man who was running this was
energetic
and
sang with the children,
engaging them and was extremely
encouraging. For
those who didn't want to do this there were
puzzles, instruments and
colouring.
Each child received a
certificate and a
sticker and they were all very chuffed.
From
10.30 to 11am were activities for the
five to 11 year olds. There were very
few
children over five there as it was
term time, so we were told by the
young man
running the previous session that it would be ok for us to
stay on and
join in.
The
girls running that session, however, seemed
put out by this and
did
not engage Harriet or Evie very much and we were told the
activities were too
advanced. If I had thought the
session too advanced I
wouldn't have let Harriet join in, however I was
unimpressed with their
response, especially due to the fact that they spent most of the time
rolling
balls back and forth, which I think Harriet and Evie are quite
capable of
doing.
The
pool facilities were of a good standard, there were
plenty of changing rooms,
kept perfectly clean and toilets and
baby change too. There were also
numerous
showers, and aside from a little bit of
flooding were fine.
Lockers were
available to those that wanted them, however as there were
so few people in the
holiday park - as it was
school term time - we were able to leave our stuff by
the
pool.
There were
four pools, two for
general swim and
families, a baby pool
and a
lane swimming pool, and also a
flume. I'm sure that these would all be
full during school holidays, but we enjoyed the
luxury of having the
pools almost
to ourselves. Unfortunately one of the
family pools was closed, as was the
flume, which disappointed Liv! Harriet and Evie really enjoyed their
swimming.
The
pool closed relatively early:
4.30 was the last
admittance and you had to be
out by
5pm, which would have been a shame for any
parents that may have wanted
to go on their own in the
evening.
The
facilities were within easy
walking
distance of most of the camp, but there was adequate
parking space for those
who preferred to drive. As it was generally pretty drizzly and very windy, we
chose to
drive over most days!
We both found it
irritating that we had to walk through an
amusement arcade full of
slot machines to get to the
restaurant.
Neither
of us got to visit the
spa, however it looked perfectly adequate and in
working
order.
