When I was a very new mother I dreamed I'd packed Olivia in my briefcase and then left it somewhere... the stuff of nightmares. I wasn't quite so bad as forgetting to take the baby home from the shops as one friend did but sleep deprived parents can do daft things.
New dad Dave Engledow took a photo of himself holding the baby and squirting breast milk into his WORLD'S BEST FATHER coffee mug it went viral and the rest, as they say, is history. Confessions of the World's Best Father, published by Penguin Books, is a collection of photos and commentaries that will bring a knowing smile to any parent's face as well as some real laugh out loud moments.
Of course the real star of the book (apart from the coffee mug which appears in every photo) is Alice Bee – her expressions are priceless. She is absolutely gorgeous and now has her early months documented for posterity. I only hope her agent got her a good percentage of the royalties.
Confessions of the World's Best Father is a book to dip into when you need to smile. A perfect gift for Father's Day or for man about to cross the threshold into fatherhood. And I think this book will appeal to mothers as well, prompting the "well at least X's father isn't as hamfisted as that!" comment.
