Toby, aged three, and I have been reading Eat Your Peas about a little girl called Daisy who really, really doesn't like peas!
This is a fabulous book, told with great humour which appeals directly to youngsters and adults alike.
Nick Sharratt's simple and effective illustrations encouraged Toby to “read along himself” and tell me the story. They certainly add enormously to the appeal of Kes Gray's words.
To get Daisy to eat her peas her mum offers a range of different bribes which get more and more outrageous. Regardless of the “bribe” Daisy refuses, she has a strong character and turns the tables on her mum beautifully at the end of the book.
Eat Your Peas is a book you don't have to dread re-reading at bedtime and which should make you both smile!
