Congratulations to all the teens and their families receiving their results today. It can be a stressful time time if the results are brilliant!
So a few top tips for parents:
Be positive – this is not the time for recriminations if the results are lower than expected of needed.
Be proud – focus on achievement rather than failure.
Offer advice about how and where to apply for further education if appropriate or help with researching apprenticeships.
Don't compare results with those of your teens siblings or peers. It is undermining and counterproductive.
Consult the school for any advice and information especially if you think a paper should be remarked.
Be generous with some praise whatever the results.
Celebrate with the whole family and make a fuss of your teen.
