The
Tate Movie Project's amazing animation
The Itch of the Golden Nit is the first of its kind – a film made by and for children. Thousands of
children across the UK shared their
drawings and ideas to create – with
Aardman Animations, makers of
Wallace and Gromit, an amazing tale that has you
cheering at the end!
The boring life of "loser" Beanie is changed forever when
Evil Stella and her number two,
Fireboy, show up in his
back garden one day after school. They
shrink then kidnap Beanie's parents while his
sister Beryl remains behind,
doll-sized but
no less mouthy than she was and it's up to
Beanie to save Mum and Dad and the universe.
This charming short
film, written by
Dave Ingham, will have your
kids (and you) willing
Beanie to realise is potential . It's
fun, ridiculous and
inspiring. Plus it's
voiced by, among others,
David Walliams, Catherine Tate, Miranda Hart, Rik Mayall, and
Miriam Margolyes.
The Itch of the Golden Nit is showing on
BBC2 at 9am on
Saturday 2 July. Watch the "
making of" programme afterwards which is just as
entertaining. The fiilm will also be screened at
regional galleries throughout the summer. at
Camp Bestival in July and at
Vue cinemas nationwide over
August Bank Holiday.
