Joe, my
nine year-old son, has been testing out the
Silver®Care toothbrush for 7 to 12 year olds. This
toothbrush, due to the
process by which
pure silver, on contact with water, releases
active ions for a continuous
antibacterial activity, has been shown to
reduce the level of
streptococcus mutans which are considered the principle
cavity-forming bacteria (reference
product information on packaging).
Joe commented on the
following features of the
Silver®Care toothbrush after he had been using it for a few days:
- The cap that comes with the toothbrush: Joe noted that this would be great for sleepovers, so you can keep your toothbrush clean and fluff-free!
- The handle design: Joe likes to look at the design of objects and felt that this was stylish and practical. It has a flatter handle than other brushes, which helps you to have a comfortable grip on the toothbrush. He felt that the picture of the dolphin was nice, but probably not necessary for that age group.
- The toothbrush head: the bristles were soft, but not too soft. Joe says he will be interested to see how long it will be before the bristles start to flatten out.
Joe is
happy to keep using this
Silver®Care toothbrush and is pleased to have been involved with
reviewing it for
Parenting Without Tears. I will be pleased if the
toothbrush does do the job on
reducing bacteria, as a product that does not require another step (eg mouth wash) in improving my child's
dental hygiene is a bonus.
