Exercise is mood-enhancing, and I'd defy anyone to dance and be or stay miserable! One of the great things about Strictly Come Dancing is the feel-good factor it generates - and that's just for the non-participants!
John Sargeant was aiming to lose two stone (!) and other celebrity dancers commented on how dancing improved their stamina and body-shape. Of course competing athletes and sportsmen and women are already hot on fitness. Not necessarily so for we armchair judges!
Strictly Come Dancing the Workout with Kelly & Flavia has excellent warm-up and cool-down sections plus is full of demanding exercise routines within the dances. The quick step is great to counteract bingo wings, while the salsa targets most of your body, the jive, the bottom and the tango, your stomach. But each dance will have you working out your whole body.
Each dance is in two sections, the first is the realatively easy-to-follow instructions - the pause and rewind buttons come into their own as you master each step and routine. Then, when you feel more confident, follows the actual dance which you are talked through by either Kelly Brook or Flavia Cacace - how they manage not to sound breathless is beyond me!
Strictly Come Dancing the Workout is great fun - for all the family. A fabulous antidote to cold winter afternoons and evenings - it's time to get everyone up and dancing!
