Afternoon tea in a good hotel has always been
excellent value in London and the new
Stupendous Afternoon Tea at the
Mercer Street Hotel is no exception. The tea menu to celebrate
Matilda the Musical is a delight and offers
tea-time treats for both young and old, including:
- Honey ham sandwiches
- Ludicrously lovely lemon loaf cake
- Tremendously terrific trifle
- Fantastic fondue
A selection of
traditional scones, sandwiches and teas is also available. In addition,
each child will be given a complimentary copy of
Roald Dahl’s adored classic to take away with them. I went with along with a friend and wished I'd taken a little
"doggy" bag for the
scrummy cupcakes and other
delights that were sadly left over. My only
criticsm was that some of the
sandwiches were made with
white bread but otherwise everything was
delicious.
One could just imagine
Matilda enjoying tea with
Miss Honey at the
Mercer Street Hotel. I was thankful that it wasn't
The Witches that had just opened with the possibility of lots of
rat recipes!
Children are most welcome at this
hotel and the
staff go out of their way to make
tea-time a positive celebration of a
British tradition. A scrumptious feast.
The fabulous newly refurbished
Mercer Street Hotel, is located at the heart of the uber-chic
Seven Dials Village, just seconds away from some of
London’s most elite dining, shopping and nightlife venues. In keeping with the area’s stylish surroundings, the hotel offers
five-star luxury at affordable prices.
Stupendous Afternoon Tea costs £13.75 for kids and £29.50 for grown-ups and is served daily from
2pm to 5pm at Dial Bar. PWT rating: ♥♥♥♥♥
