Roald's Dahl's fabulous book, The Twits has been a long-time favourite. I first read it when I was Harriet's age (seven) and she too is a great fan so we were both looking forward to seeing it on stage at the Rose Theatre in Kingston.
Harriet loved it: "The Twits was fantastic. It was so silly and funny. We had to take our shoes off and pretend to be upside down put putting them on our hands and putting them in the air.
"The Twits were gross and disgusting. Mr Twit went to the toilet in front of us!
"The Mugglewumps were so funny and the Roly-Poly Bird was on stilts."
The acting is fabulous and the casting is perfect: Alex Chang (Boy Muggle-Wump), Jack Horner (The Roly-Poly Bird), Liz Jadav (Mummy Muggle-Wump), Luke Johnson (Daddy Muggle-Wump), Jo Mousley (Mrs Twit), Robert Pickavance (Mr Twit) and Charlotte Workman (Girl Muggle-Wump).
With amazing music and atmosphere this was a perfect theatrical experience for all the family. The children in the audience were transfixed especially by the costumes as well as the antics.
This Rose Theatre and Curve Leicester co-production of The Twits is brilliant. I would happily go again!
