The
dining areas at the
Hotel Wiesenhof are extremely well thought out,
smart without being intimidating for
families and
accommodating. There's a large
Cookoo's Nest snuggery lined in pinewood suitable for
families with children, the
Achensee snuggery with a huge table for large family parties and two dining booths; the porcelain room with a view over the lake; and the
main restaurant with views of the lake or mountains plus a
fireplace lounge where dogs are permitted. With
walls of windows and ceiling mirrors the whole place has a feeling of
space and
light.
Guests at
Hotel Wiesenhof are led to believe that they are booked for
breakfast and
evening meal. Not so! Breakfast is as much or as little as you want it to be, and healthy. With a
selection of juices on tap – or you can make your own carrot or orange – plus a
range of teas and coffee you are
spoilt for choice with fruit, freshly baked bread and
homemade jams and marmalades,
cheese and ham sliced to order,
eggs cooked as you'd like them. Plus there are all types of
cereal should that be your
children's favourites.
Breakfast is served from 7.30 to 10am (with a
late risers' breakfast served for the next two hours in the lounge) and if that hasn't set you up for the day there's a
buffet lunch of soup and salads to be eaten in the bar. And, if you can't wait for dinner there's the
vitality snack buffet with breads and spreads and
delicious cakes from 3.00 to 5.00pm!
Dinner is served from 6.30 to 8.00pm so convenient for children. Starters from the buffet include a comprehensive selection that should please anyone. This is followed by
soup and then the
main course which you selected from
four choices at breakfast. However if none of these is to your taste the
chef will prepare something that is and he's happy to accommodate any
dietary requirements and smaller meals for
children. If you have the room, there's a choice of
dessert too!
I had a
table overlooking the lake (you have the same one each day) and, although I am
lactose intolerant and don't eat
red meat, I found it easy to choose a
mouth-watering supper each evening.
This is a
family-run hotel and
Johannes and Alexandra Entner welcome families with
children of all ages into the restaurant. When I was there offspring ranged from a very
new baby to
teens and those in between.
One this is certain – you'll never feel hungry at
Hotel Wiesenhof and fortunatly you can
exercise off any excess calories in the
pool, gym or the
seasonal sports on offer!
