We all
love a trip to the
coast, but do you take your
litter home with you?
Beach litter is more than just an
eyesore, it can also
pose a
threat to our
wildlife.
Now’s your
chance to take
action! The Marine
Conservation Society’s
Beachwatch event is a
simple and
effective way to
tackle rubbish- especially the plastics - on our
beaches.
Two of the
venues where you can get
involved in this year's
coastal clean-up, are:
- the National Trust’s beaches at Dunwich Heath on Saturday 15 September from 10am
- Orford Ness National Nature Reserve on Sunday 16 September (leaving the barrier beyond the Martello Tower, Slaughden near Aldeburgh) at 10am
The
aim is to
collect and
record all of the rubbish found,
creating a safer
environment for our
wildlife and a
cleaner beach for people to
enjoy, one where there's less
temptation to leave
rubbish in future.
The
results from this
survey will be
published in a report next
spring. It is
hoped that this will help to
increase people’s
awareness of
coastal litter and its
impacts.
An
environmental initiative
organised by the
Marine Conservation Society, this
project is a great way to meet
new people and have a
good laugh, whilst
doing something that will b
enefit the environment.
All those
wishing to take part in this
free event, please bring
appropriate clothing and
gloves, equipment will be
provided.
