The four
Horrible Histories jigsaws
depict historical settings in an
accurate way, but with an added
comical treatment. They include - Terrible Tudors,
Awful Egyptians, Rotten Romans and
Cracking Castle. All the jigsaws include an
eight-page leaflet, packed full of “horrible” and
fascinating facts and an
educational quiz.
The
Terrible Tudors puzzle brings a dirty,
dangerous Tudor town to
life. When the
puzzle is complete,
Tudor tricksters can be
spotted and there is a
painful punishments quiz to answer.
Jeremy and Donny were
very eager to try out this
puzzle specially as Jeremy had read all the
Horrible History books.
Ten year-old
Jeremy said: “It was
good, but a bit hard and
difficult. It is for people aged
over ten: younger people might
get bored and find it too hard. I
found out that people in Tudor times
threw wee out of the
window and poor people
begged for money. I would
like to get it as a
present.”
Donny (aged eight) said: “It was quite
fun doing it.
Little ones would give up. I
like the way it is
tricky like a task thingy. I
found out about the
wee and how r
ich people showed off to
poor people and how they
kept sheep in their houses. I would
like to get it as a
present.”
Tim comments:
"My children
enjoyed doing this and
persevered with it, even though they do not
normally take a lot of
interest in
puzzles. There was some
educational content in the
picture and there was an
additional leaflet (which did not look very
interesting) that had extra
information.
"My only
criticism was that the
puzzle pieces featured rather a lot of bits of
house, many of which were rather
similar. This made
finishing off some of the
middle quite hard and the
parents had to help the
children to finish it off."
