The Family Book has an old-fashioned
look and this is
deliberate - harking back to the "
golden age" which probably
never existed for
families but which many of us would now like to
recreate.
The subtitle
Amazing Things To Do Together is a bit of a
misnomer as most of the
ideas are actually very
ordinary and mundane (for example
Prepare the perfect breakfast in bed or
Make a family photo collage) but put
together in a book some -how
makes them more
exciting for the children.
Adam (aged eight)
pounced on the book immediately because it
reminded him of his
favourite book
The Boys' Annual (in the same series).
Aaron, ten, and
Iona, six, were equally
interested.
We went for
Puzzle the family with riddles - each taking a turn to
read and had
great fun trying to
answer them - sometimes
successfully! And we ended up playing
charades - another of the book's
suggestions.
The Family Book has something for everyone from
Convince your family you are a mind-reader to
Where does time go? It's
quirky and fun - a great
accompaniment to winter
evenings and rainy days and
times when you just want to
switch off the TV and computer and
interact together as a family. Plus it makes a
great present at any time of the year.
