Shaun the Sheep is vintage entertainment, a
slapstick comedy starring the eponymous
sheep (first seen in
Aardman's classic film
A Close Shave). Shaun now has a
starring role of his own, with a supporting cast of
farmyard animals of various shapes and sizes.
This
DVD contains
eight short and
action-packed adventures which were
perfect for three year-old Toby's (limited)
concentration span. The
episodes typically feature the
ultra-smart sheep getting his
flock into (or out of) a whole heap of
trouble.
The
humour is strictly
visual, with grunts,
groans and loud crashes
accompanying the farm animals'
entertaining trials and tribulations which were closely followed by
delighted giggles from Toby, particularly when baby
Timmy the lamb lost his beloved
teddy bear and the flock played
football with a
cabbage. Along the
way we meet characters like
Bitzer, the friendly, if long-suffering, sheepdog, a rather lazy cat called
Pidsley and the
naughty herd of
pigs.
Eight
action-packed episodes:
- Off The Baa!
- Timmy In A Tizzy
- Buzz Off Bees
- Things That Go Bump
- Mower Mouth
- Fleeced
- Shaun Shoots The Sheep
- Mountains Out Of Molehills
Plus there’s a “
making of” feature - a
behind the scenes look at the
Aardman studio which rounds out this disc of
excellent slapstick animation.
I have already
lost count of the number of times we have watched
“Timmy in a Tizzy”! This would make a great
Christmas present and is fun family viewing.
