We took the buggy with us to a weekend away in the Cotswolds, staying in an apartment overlooking a lake. Our usual buggy is pretty hefty and takes up a lot of boot space! So having a lightweight option – the Graco Evo Avant – was a real boon.
Here are my thoughts:
Positives
- Lightweight, collapsible buggies can tend towards the "rickety" – but the Graco felt substantial, and acted this way when we took it over some very rough, muddy terrain.
- It felt very smooth and steered well.
- It was very easy to collapse then put back up again – one fluid motion and no fiddly bits.
- It had probably the best, roomiest shopping basket I've ever seen on a buggy.
- It looked smart – great colours without being gender specific.
- The seat pushed back to flat – which was brilliant when Bella needed a nap (and she quite happily snoozed in it for 1.5 hours).
- The rain cover was really easy to fit.
- The fabric felt very luxurious, again – uncommon in a lightweight buggy.
- Great brake - easy to put on/off.
Less positive
- The drawstring which you need to adjust to put the seat back or bring it back up again took some getting used to. Plus, it didn't quite pull tight enough for Bella to be able to sit completely upright with her head resting against it.
- The handlebar wasn't adjustable – it was a great height for me (I'm 5' 4") but my 6' 1" husband said it could have been just a bit higher to make it more comfortable for him when he was pushing.
- The straps were a bit tricky to adjust and we had to put them on their most generous setting to fit Bella comfortably (she's an average sized 16 month old) so I wonder how much "growing room" it has.
However I would definitely rate the Graco Eco Avant four and a half hearts (shame PWT doesn't have half hearts).
PWT rating: ♥♥♥♥♥
