The
Clarks shoe shop (children's section) in
Bromley was
very busy when we arrived at 2.30pm. Understandable as it is the
last
week of the school holidays with lots of parents remembering that their
child
needs new shoes.
However as I had made an
appointment, which is a
service now
offered at Clarks shops, I was
seen very promptly. An
appointment can be made online, in store or by phone. This was really
appreciated
as the day before I had a
45 minute wait for a
school uniform slot at another
store.
The
assistant was very helpful and friendly. My daughter had
her
feet initially measured on a
stand up machine, which read both her
size and
foot width. As with most of us
one foot was
slightly smaller than the other
one, but not to such a degree that
different sizes were required.
Clarks do
offer an "
odd shoe scheme" for those children who do require
different sizes
for their feet.
The
school range included the
bootleg fashion styles. These come in
half sizes as well as the
narrower widths. Mathilde's
chosen style was in stock. The assistant
assessed the fit
by doing the
six point check which included checking that there was
room between
her toes and the end of the shoe, ensuring that there was r
oom on top of the
shoe by pressing across the top of the shoe, and by ensuring that the
shoe was
not loose at the back. The assistant
watched my daughter
walk around the
shop. My daughter's
feet are narrow so
an
insole was recommended to try with the
style that she had chosen.
Our
experience was a very
good one, in particular due to the
helpful staff and the
appointment system. I shall use the
appointment system
again when the
next pair of shoes are required, as I expect once again I will
be planning to
buy them at the
same time as everyone else! PWT rating: ♥♥♥♥♥
