The last
book we reviewed by
Keith Souter was
The Curse of the Body Snatchers an exciting tale set in Victorian London written for the eight to 13 age group. Previously we recommended
Schoolboy Science Remembered so with
The Classic Guide to King Arthur, a well researched and
informative book that takes the reader through the
Arthurian legends and much more, we glimpse the breadth of
Keith Souter's literary output.
We all think we know the story of
Arthur and his
Knights of the Round Table and the
Quest for the Holy Grail via books like
The Sword in the Stone and
Disney films, but
Keith Souter delves much deeper and brings so many sources together from the poetry of
Tennyson and
Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur to folklore and legend.
The Classic Guide to King Arthur includes a chapter on Who, What, Where and When with mini biographies of the characters in Arthur's realm which, helpfully, includes alternative spellings.
Keith Souter's book is a treasure trove for aficionados of everything Arthurian. A book to dip into and savour.
