Cook It Step by Step - Learn to cook 100 easy recipes introduces children and their parents to the
basics of cooking from four classic ways to
cook an egg to four different ways of
roasting vegetables to go with the chicken (which they also learn how to roast complete with
home-made stuffing).
The
100 recipes are split into five sections: breakfast, light bites, main meals, sweets and preparing for events like a
party. The last section has a
meal and party planner so that the children can really impress the adults in their lives with their fantastic new
life skills. At eight Toby wants to
cook independently, for him the
recipes were ambitious but not impossible which kept him
motivated and keen to do more
cooking. Our copy of the
Cook it Step by Step is already full of their home-made
bookmarks with plans for future creations!
I like this book because the
step-by step guides have lovely clear
photographs and photographs to aspire to of the finished items, the
recipes are contemporary and relevant to
family life and the instructions are nice and simple. The
range of recipes and
cooking techniques is broad and we have already enjoyed Toby's delicious home-made
bread with
butternut squash soup with a vegetable platter,
two Victoria sponges and a batch of cookies! I'm looking forward to his
pizzas already.
We would recommend
Cook It Step by Step to anyone wanting a
children's cookbook.
