Cozy Friedman is a New York based
hairdresser specialising in
children's hairdressing. As a wash and go mum having a curly haired three year-old daughter with a strong-willed fashionista-in-the-making streak has caught me out. Pippa’s "demand" for plaits minutes before racing to get out of the door in the morning can lead to meltdown when not met!
Cozy's Complete Guide to Girls' Hair "five under 5 minutes"
style section was made for me while "the
braid brigade" section has made a big impression on
Pippa whose requests get more
complicated by the week. I met her
French braid requests yesterday but do need more practice.
Cozy's Complete Guide to Girls' Hair contains lots of info on
different hair types and hair care and maintenance, as well as a "
Hair Emergency!" section for
tips on
lice, split ends and
static. The book is 50/50 split between
styles and
hair care tips and to my mind a 75/25 split with even
more styles would be even better as it’s the
range of styles that make it fun.
Pippa certainly
loves looking at the
photographs in the easy
ring binder format and has spent a lot of time
choosing her look. Her current favourite is the "
heart braid" for
experienced braiders estimated at 15 minutes, I’ve
not managed it yet!
Pippa
really likes this book although I do think she’s on the
young side for it. By
six or seven it will be perfect as she can follow the
instructions herself and indulge in a different style every day. Until then I’ll
keep practising the
heart braid until she can wear it outside the house!
