The
FA Tesco Skills Programme provides affordable, high quality
youth football coaching for five to 11 year old
boys and girls of all abilities. Since launching in 2007 the initiative, which is
funded by Tesco and Sport England, has seen over
1.5 million young players take part with the focus on
getting children active, having fun and improving their
technical standards.
One of the
major reasons behind its success has been the
emphasis on improving
social skills, through practices and games designed to
improve their ability to work as part of a
team, solve problems and
build confidence whatever their ability.
A total of 90, full time,
specialist Skills Coaches are committed to raising technical standards among the five to 11 age group, when ball skills are ingrained.
Parents can be assured the Skills Coaches are
fully qualified and have completed an official FA
age appropriate skills coaching course.
