Hannah Chandler is only 12 years old but she already has a mature understanding of younger children and the stories they like to read or have read to them as is evident in I Don't Like Cheese.
Mike is a little mouse who lives with his mum behind the skirting board of the dining room in the house that belongs to the Walker family. Mike doesn't like cheese and simply refuses to eat it – aided and abetted by the daughter of the family, Ashley, who leaves Mike something for dinner each evening complete with a gift to show him which country the food comes from.
Then the unthinkable happens – Ashley leaves a not to say that the family is going on holiday and she won't be able to leave the meals for him. Mike held out for two days then had to give in to his tummy rumbles... and, of course, discovers that he actually likes cheese.
This is a fabulous little tale with simple and appealing illustrations which will resonate with parents and well as delight children.
Harriet adores I Don't Like Cheese and goes back to it time and time again.
