I have been a journalist all my working life: either writing or teaching. Initially I wrote on women in politics, which gave me a small insight into the workings of different governments – leading me to being banned from one country but invited with alacrity to others. I was also privileged to help set up Burma UK when people in this country knew little about what was happening to that, put upon, far off land.
In the last six years I have been teaching journalism and also concentrating on travel writing. I have contributed to the national press as well as airline magazines, and online publications and this year I was proud to be a finalist at the Travel Press Awards, as Online Travel Writer of the Year.
Throughout all, it is no cliché to say that being a mum has been my most rewarding assignment and so writing for Parenting Without Tears has been both a pleasure and a responsibility.
