Dream flags, 16 to 24 February
Take part in the 150th anniversary of Cragside and mark the occasion by making a dream flag. Tibetan prayer flags can be found strung along the mountain ridges and peaks of the Himalayas today and are used to bless the surrounding countryside. Lord and Lady Armstrong created a Himalayan landscape at Cragside so this half-term event will be collecting dreams in a similar way. Buy a "do it yourself" dream flag pack from the visitor centre, create your own design and then head up to the labyrinth to find the tree hut to display the flag.

Explore two forts and imagine how the powerful Lord Rhys held court at Dinefwr and influenced decisions in Wales. Friendly volunteers guide children through hands-on activities at Newton House, including servants’ tasks in the brushing room as they listen to servants chatting about their daily work. Outside, try and spot the fallow deer munching away under the trees, let off steam in the children’s play area and go see what’s in a pond on the boardwalk as long as five football pitches.
