Directed by Paul King, Paddington has a host of stars including Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Peter Capaldi and Nicole Kidman with the voices of Ben Whishaw (Paddington), Michael Gambon (Uncle Pastuzo) and Imelda Staunton (Aunt Lucy).
What is there not to like about the Michael Bond story about the bear from darkest Peru who arrives in London to find a family to take him in after an earthquake decimates his family home? And how lovely to own the film and watch over and over again scenes like those of Hugh Bonneville (Mr Brown) dressed as a female cleaner in order to find out about the expedition the Peru that has been expunged from records.
We reviewed Paddington when it was released at the cinema. The quality of the production and the acting makes Paddington the type of film that you will want to watch over and over again and see and appreciate new things each time. I loved watching the movie again – the sense of anticipation of favourite scenes adding to the enjoyment.
My only slight disappointment was that the DVD did not include any "out takes" which, I'm sure, would have been hilarious given the comedy in the film.
Paddington from StudioCanal makes perfect family viewing and the DVD an ideal treat for Easter.
