First of all the confession!
Perfect Piggies by Sandra Boynton was sent into
Parenting Without Tears for review months ago! It's
not that I didn't want want to
write about it, simply that it has become such a
daily party of our lives that I assumed I had.
So belatedly my thoughts – the
previous sentence says it all.
Harriet adores it as much now as when we first had it. At
Christmas (at eight months) she went straight to the
bookshelf and pulled it out (for an
admiring audience) and daily she has to have it
read to her several times.
Perfect Piggies is a beautufully concieved,
exquisitely illustrated book. The
rhymes are inspired:
"And look at these ears so floppy and fine.
You have to admit it we're fabulous swine!"
And I have to say as someone who has read
Perfect Piggies over and over again the story
never palls.
If you hadn't given
pigs much thought before, you'll be a fan after reading
Sandra Boynton's tribute. You can also download a
free musical version of the book which Harriet finds delightful.
Perfect Piggies – a perfect book for
small children.
