Taking place at Eton Dorney, located outside Windsor, Berkshire, on 21 to 23 June, this year’s Samsung World Rowing Cup event will host over 800 athletes from around 50 nations, with the GB Rowing Team’s Olympic champions Helen Glover, Andrew Triggs-Hodge, Pete Reed and Alex Gregory as well as Paralympic champions Pam Relph and Naomi Riches all looking set to take part.
As well as top class sport, the three day summer celebration offers fun for everyone, with food and market stalls, picnic areas, bars and the British Rowing Test your Fitness Tent, where spectators will have the opportunity try their hand at rowing and test their fitness.
2012 gold medallist Alex Gregory urged the public to come along and support the GB team who will be battling their top rivals like Australia, New Zealand, Germany and America in this gruelling and compelling sport: “It’s an amazing, beautiful venue – you can take the whole family and have a great day out. Every single person I’ve spoken to since the Olympics who went to watch the rowing at Dorney said that the venue was awesome and that they had an amazing day and really enjoyed it.
‘It makes such a difference to us – I can’t stress how much help it gives us on the water when you hear the home crowd cheering. It really makes a difference – every voice gives us a boost so buy a ticket, get down there, enjoy the World Cup and support GB.”
