Anyone who's ever been on holiday to
Greece or the
Greek Islands will
know how re
laxed the
Greeks are about children in their
restaurants.
The Real Greek Restaurant has transported this ambiance to London's Bankside where when the weather suits you can eat outside and watch the Thames flow by. Their motto of "
Food is for sharing..." and our favourite way to eat is to order a selection of
hot and
cold meze from a wide choice of dishes. This is a great way to
introduce children to different foods and although they do have a
children's menu (£5.95 and includes a drink and an ice cream or sorbet), I'm sure most
younger diners would prefer to sample their parents' food.
The menu changes so this time we tried the
Beetroot, Feta & Lentil which was delicious along with
Babaganoush a classic
Mediterranean dip with aubergine, tahini
and garlic to accompany our flatbread and crudité and
Tiger Prawns and of course a dish of olives. The
vegetable dishes are all priced at just over £4 while the
meat ones are around £6. And if you are
watching your waistline, each dish on the
menu shows the number of calories
One of the great things about
The Real Greek is the promotions they run – currently a
meal for two including a drink each for
£20 (Sundays to Thursdays). You can get these by registering on
The Real Greek website.
The Real Greek Bankside (SE1 9HA) is open Monday to Saturday 11.30am to 11.00pm, and Sunday 11.30 to 10.30.
