Greenwich has so much to offer from fabulous architecture and imposing buildings to amazing riverside walks and views, shopping in the covered market, restaurants to tempt every palate and purse, and the new Peter Harrison Planetarium in Greenwich Royal Park.

This Christmas for every £10 spent in a participating shop or market stall you will receive one Mince Pound which can be used to discount prices at Greenwich Theatre and the Ice Rink (terms apply).

This year's panto at the Greenwich Theatre is Dick Whittington - topical in the run up to London's mayorial election! Box office 020 8858 7755 - and children's tickets are half price.

For the more energetic there's the Ice Rink situated in the grounds of the Old Royal Naval College. With CaféIce situated in the colonnades, skaters and spectators have uninterrupted views across the Thames to Canary Wharf in one direction and Queen's House and the Royal Observatory in the other.

Greenwich Ice Rink is open until 13 January 2008. Booking is advisable on 0870 1690101

However Greenwich isn't just for Christmas - there's so much to do all the year round including a visit to the fascinating Fan Museum, Creek Road where you can buy fantastic retro and kitsch goods or pick up vintage clothes and in Nelson Road you can pick up a map and a compass - not that you'll need them to navigate Greenwich Town Centre!
