Imagine going to a
party where the
grumpy jelly refused to wobble and the
birthday princess offered a huge
reward for the person who could save the day!
The Jelly That Wouldn't Wobble is the début story of
Angela Mitchell. In concept it is similar to the
Little Princess books by
Tony Ross only in this
book, the
princess is celebrating her
89th birthday – quite why the author selected
89 is a mystery to me as it has nothing to do with the
story and to
young children anything above
12 is old!
The illustrations by
Sarah Horne (also reminiscent of
Tony Ross), show
Princess Lolly with a blue rinse - the only concession to
age! Although the
princess has obviously gone back to acting like a
demanding child!
So who solves the problem of
The Jelly That Wouldn't Wobble? The smallest guest at the
party, of course. But you'll have to
read the book to find out how!
Although the book is aimed at
three to seven year olds, Harriet at
just over two was very happy with
The Jelly That Wouldn't Wobble and I'm sure it is one which will keep her
amused until she can read it herself.
